Jamie and Adan Garcia-Prado are the proud owners of The Wash Box laundromat in Stockton, California, a bustling 1,800 sq. ft. facility equipped with 26 washers and 26 dryers. This husband-and-wife team’s journey into laundromat ownership began with a vision of building a better future for their family. Today, thanks to their determination and Clean Laundry Funding’s unwavering support, they are not only thriving but are also preparing to open their second location.

The Challenge: Financing Dreams

When Jamie and Adan decided to retool an existing laundromat, they encountered one obstacle after another. Despite their excellent credit and assets, traditional banks and even some industry-specific lenders dismissed them due to their lack of prior laundromat experience.

“Every time we contacted a bank or lender, we were told that unless we had at least two years of laundromat experience, we wouldn’t even be considered — regardless of how great our credit score was or how many assets we had,” they shared.

Even within the laundromat industry, financing options proved equally restrictive. “We were told by another very well-known lender that there was no way around less than 40% down. Some lenders were even straight-out rude and off-putting, almost like it was comical to them that we were trying to make this happen.”

Finding a Solution with Clean Laundry Funding

Just when they thought their dream might be unattainable, Jamie and Adan discovered Clean Laundry Funding and their experience immediately changed. “After seeking out many financing options that only led to letdown after letdown, we came across Clean Laundry Funding. Immediately it felt different,” they said.

From their first conversation with Josh Kiley, Clean Laundry Funding’s National Business Development Manager, Jamie and Adan felt a sense of trust and partnership. “Instead of telling us all the ways it wasn’t going to work, Josh began seeking solutions,” Jamie shared. “He was responsive, fast, and ALWAYS available to help.”

They were thrilled by how straightforward the process was. “Clean Laundry Funding made the process of financing new laundry equipment smooth and worry-free. We were shocked at just how simple and streamlined the process actually could be!”

With Clean Laundry Funding’s support, Jamie and Adan secured a new equipment loan to retool their laundromat, replacing a mix of outdated Speed Queen and Dexter machines with modern, energy-efficient Hero brand washers and dryers.

The Entrepreneurial Journey

Jamie and Adan’s transition to business ownership has been challenging but deeply rewarding. “Our entrepreneurial journey has been nothing short of challenging,” Adan shared, “but with great support from Clean Laundry Funding and our distributor, we’ve gained more confidence and comfort in our decisions.”

Their hard work and commitment to creating a better life for their children have been the driving forces behind their success. Clean Laundry Funding’s tailored solutions allowed them to invest in their business without the high barriers they faced elsewhere.

Building a Successful Laundromat

With Clean Laundry Funding’s help, The Wash Box became a welcoming and efficient space for California residents. Retooling the store with new equipment not only improved customer satisfaction but also reduced maintenance costs and downtime. The Garcia-Prados’ commitment to quality has earned them loyal customers and set the foundation for future growth.

Josh Kiley shared his experience working with Jamie and Adan: “The communication with the Prados has been absolutely the best a sales rep could ask for. When calling them, it feels more like a friendship than a work project. I look forward to hearing their success stories and hopefully getting to see their laundromat in person one day!”

Looking Ahead: A Second Location

Building on the success of their first laundromat, Jamie and Adan are now preparing to open their second location in Stockton — a 1,600 sq. ft. space equipped with 16 washers and 20 dryers. Set to open later this month, this new venture is also being financed through Clean Laundry Funding.

“We will definitely be utilizing Clean Laundry Funding again in the future,” they shared.

A Message for Future Laundromat Owners

Jamie and Adan’s story highlights the importance of working with a lender who believes in their customers’ potential. Reflecting on their experience, they emphasized: “If it hadn’t been for [Clean Laundry Funding], we’d have never been able to make this happen.”
